I have received your personal Note of the 12 June in which you informed that the Secretary of state of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain has very much appreciated the Holy Father’s Address to the Cardinals at the occasion of his birthday and especially the intention manifested by him to persist in his initiative in favour of peace.(1)

I was happy to convey this communication to the Holy Father’ and I hasten to inform you that His Holiness has received it with great satisfaction, and he asks the your Excellency conveys his gratitude to Lord Halifax.

In carrying out this instruction, I thank your Excellency for the information and I remain, etc.
